Expression of Interest:the Proposed Nagmati Environment and Water (newa) Project is Earmarked for Approval in 2027 in Adb Indicative Country Pipeline. the Project Will Address Critical Water Security Issues in the Bagmati River Basin. the Purpose of the Nagmati Dam is to Boost the Lean Season Flows in the Bagmati River That Flows Through the Heart of Kathmandu Which is the Capital City of Nepal. the Dam Will Store Water During the Monsoon Season and Release This Water Downstream to the Bagmati River During the Dry Season.
this Assignment for the Senior Dam Specialist and Hydrologist Will Be to Review the Detailed Design and All Other Available Information (feasibility Studies, Site Investigations, Hydrologic Reports, Etc.) for the Dam and Powerhouse to Highlight Any Possible Gaps in Information and Identify Any Possible Issues That Will Require Addressing to Ensure the Design of the Dam, Its Appurtenance’s, and the Reservoir’s Design Meets with International Best Practices. the Specialist Will Assist Dwri and Adb Project Team with Formulating a Plan to Address Highlighted Gaps and Issues, If Any. He/she Will Support Adb with Engaging a Panel of Experts (poe) to Advise Dwri and Adb While Finalizing the Dam’s Design and During Implementation and Commissioning. the Specialist Will Assist Adb with Preparing the Terms of Reference for the Poe, Their Recruitment, Onboarding Onto the Project, and Coordination for Preparing the Poe Inception Report. the Specialist Will Prepare An Initial Alternatives Study Report Covering the Review of Existing Information and the Water Balance and Water Quality Modelling to Support the Justification of the Selected Design. the Specialist Will Also Assist Adb with Identifying Other Technical Consulting Needs, as Required, for Completing the Project’s Due Diligence and Preparing Draft Loan Approval Documents. Once the Poe Inception Report is Finalized, the Scope for the Senior Dam Specialist / Hydrologist Assignment Will Be Reviewed and Possibly Expanded to Continue Supporting Adb with Coordinating with Dwri, Poe, and Technical Team, and to Finalize the Design of the Dam, Prepare Draft Bid Documents, and Prepare Draft Loan Approval Documents.
