These Constraints Are Further Exacerbated in Times of Economic Downturns Or External Shocks Such as the One Caused By the Coronavirus (covid-19) Pandemic Or the Impacts of Climate Change. Financial Institutions (fis) Also Face Difficulties, Serving Wsmes with Traditional Lending Practices Such as Non-differentiated Approaches Which Are Heavily Reliant on Traditional Collateral Requirements of Land and Tangible Assets, the Majority of Which is Not Owned By Women.
adb Seeks to Engage a Market Assessment Expert in Vanuatu. the Expert Will Assist An International Consultant (team Leader) in Preparing a Study Which Would Aim to Provide Practical Business-oriented Market Research on the Women-owned Small, Medium Enterprises (wsmes) Markets in Samoa and Vanuatu with the Objective of Building the Business Case for Banks and Non-bank Financial Institution (nbfi) Lenders in Targeting Wsmes. the Research Should Help Financial Institutions Build a Pipeline of Wsmes to Finance By Providing Data and Key Insights on the Characteristics of Wsmes Including the Various Sub- Segments, Sectors in Which They Operate, Etc. the Research Findings Will Then Be Used to Support Financial Institutions (fis) to Serve the Wsmes Effectively, Especially By Providing Recommendations on Suitable Financial Instruments and Services for Wsmes, Which Will Help Wmsmes as Well as Fis to Respond to Climate and Nature-related Financial Risks and Opportunities.
